you can help!

CHIVI

The area is mostly dry and only receives little rainfall throughout the year. Peasants walk miles in order to have clean water. They are sustained by community boreholes which were drilled by Non- Governmental Organizations which most of them cannot adequately cater for the population. Some are no longer functioning and this is causing poor sanitation. Areas which are in need of boreholes are mainly schools and residential areas. It would be best for each community to have its own borehole nearby so that they don`t have to walk miles in search of clean water.

The children in this village usually wake up at 4am to walk for about 2-3 hours, about 5-10 km just to get some clean water. Then some have to also walk to school afterwards which can be another long walk.

Boreholes which are manually operated are the best option since it’s in the rural areas and there is no electricity. The boreholes will be 15m to 20m deep depending on the area. Their prices including installation range from USD7000.00. The borehole that we are trying to raise support for will give water for at least 50 families. The average number of children in one African family is 4 – 5. So if we make it happen this clean water will be blessing to at least 300 people.

One 5L water bottle in Zimbabwe costs about $4. But that $4 would have a larger impact when investing in this project.

If you are interested in being part of this project - let me know and we can figure out how you can do it :) tabita.asnevica@gmail.com
